John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is the latest entry in the action series of the same name. It stars Keanu Reeves as John Wick, a legendary assassin of the criminal underworld, as he faces the consequences of his actions at the end of the second film. Chapter 3 released in theatres on May 17th, and it beat Avengers: Endgame at the weekend box office with a $57 million debut.

John Wick is a film series known for its intense and amazingly conceived action scenes throughout. Chapter 3 is no different. Reeves does nearly all of the action and stunts as Wick, allowing for a greater connection between audience and character. Wick’s kill count in chapter 3 is the highest in the series, leaving room for even more of a variety of jaw dropping kills and scenes. The production value behind the film is of great quality as well; every moment is expertly choreographed and keeps the audience engaged throughout. The creativity of the minds behind the film is shown in these moments and should be applauded by those who appreciate film. Despite being labeled as an action film, Parabellum’s story is not bad and is exciting for those who watch it. A nice balance is struck between action and story and little room is allowed for boredom.

Despite the lack of flaws in its production, John Wick 3 can improve in other areas. There is a lack of character development with John Wick, and it seems as if there were little major events that impacted the film’s story by the end of it. A few of the actors gave mediocre performances that weakened some of scenes on top of that. The level of excitement in the film dies off towards the middle of it as well, leaving the audience wanting more after some of its best action was presented at the beginning. Also, the middle of the film contained action that felt repetitive, but it still felt engaging for many of those watching.

Overall, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, is a masterpiece in film production, but it struggles a bit in regards to its story. John Wick 3 is a great film, but it could always improve in these certain areas. I would recommend John Wick 3 to any viewer who enjoys action films due to its impeccable choreography and the amazing stunts of Keanu Reeves.
