While Farragut doesn’t restrict students with uniforms, many teenagers get bored with expressing themselves with their clothes. A few students have put some personality into their hair, and I met with a few of them to find out how and why.

Josie Coray isn’t shy about her hair. In July, she shaved her head and bleached it, and is now starting to add a bit of color to the mix. “I just shampoo purple in.” Coray plans to keep shaving and bleaching her hair for a while, saying “I want to keep things the way they are.” She pairs her rockstar hairstyle with intense eye and lip makeup. Pretty hairdcore. If you know what I mean.

Estella Huang, a junior, may not be known for the wildest hair, but has always made it a point of keeping her hair model-quality. She says, “I just rub coconut . . . and mouse into my hair after I shower…it takes ten minutes.” She has plans on growing out her hair to her knees, collecting a dozen cats, and rocking the crazy cat lady look.

While not everyone chooses to add some self expression to their hair, it is nice to see some color in the halls.
